Tyler's Version
When we tell people how long we have been dating, most people are shocked. Our story does not start where you would expect. We started dating years before either of us graduated high school. Where did we meet? You guessed it, band.
What’s even crazier? We were both in middle school! I can still remember coming home from a field trip in 7th grade and wishing I could have spent more time with Courtney. We didn't start “dating” until August 23, 2012, when I was in 8th grade and Courtney was in 9th grade.
Courtney's Version
When we met, I had no idea how long Tyler would be in my life or how important he would be to me. We met in middle school, and started “dating” a year later. We have been together so long, I truly do not remember when we went on our first real date. We’ve since made it through high school, five years of long distance in college, and now three busy years of me being in physical therapy school with Tyler working full time. We have almost 12 years of memories to look back on, including high school field trips, graduations, road trips, moving in together, and of course, getting engaged.
Tyler proposed on September 27th, 2021 at Piedmont Park in Midtown Atlanta. Unfortunately for him, I already knew it was coming. I figured it out from many clues being left, such as mail starting to arrive for Tyler from Zales, and Selena, the maid of honor, insisting on getting our nails done earlier that day despite the fact I would soon have to remove them for midterm practicals. The final clue was after we arrived at the park, and Tyler went back to the car for something he “forgot”, and came back with a very obvious, box sized object sticking out in his front pocket. I remember being so nervous and excited that when he finally got down on one knee I said yes before even letting him finish the question.
